Daniel Kalfon écrit, sur son site http://www.monnaies-rares.com, que nous n’avons “pas d'explications au fait que ces prototypes aient été frappés en 1969, alors que le processus de pré-série au type de la 5 francs était déjà bien engagé (on en était à la 4e pré-série, semblable au futur type courant de 1970). Ne s'agit-il pas aussi de frappes de 1973 ?”. Cette monnaie ne réagit pas à l’aimant.
