Monnaie sur un flan court, avec des types assez bien venus à la frappe. Patine sombre sur un métal indéterminé, proche du bronze. Une perforation est nettement visible

正面的说明书 Grand M avec une croix bouletée entre les bras.
背面
背面的说明书 Deux lettres A monogrammées, formant une sorte de quadrillage.

Ces types sont assez classique ; le M central accosté de globules est bien attesté, de même que les deux A tête bèche. Mais cette monnaie est surtout intéressante car elle n’est pas en argent ; nous serions en présence d’un billon ou même d’un bronze.

The Melle workshop, in the south-east of Deux-Sèvres, was important in the Carolingian period and seems to have been in operation from the Merovingian period. The silver-lead mines are still accessible and can be visited by a wide public.
