正面的说明书 Entre ces deux mots des étoiles. Un faisceau surmonté du bonnet de la Liberté, et orné de deux ailes. Au bout de chaque aile est fixée une corde avec un poids, ou niveau vertical. A la corde de gauche est attachée une couronne de laurier; à celle de droite une couronne d’épis. Dans une couronne d’olivier qui entoure le champ, on voit une seconde couronne en chêne.

背面的说明书 Ente ces deux mots, le faisceau entouré d’un serpent et surmonté du bonnet de la Liberté vu de face, ailé. Le faisceau repose sur une base carrée qui porte sur chacune des deux faces que l’on aperçoit. Au-dessous du bonnet de la Liberté est placée horizontalement une lance à deux fers. A chacun des deux bouts de cette lance pend une couronne; celle àgauche, de laurier, celle à droite, d’épis.

D’après l’ouvrage de Hennin, il s’agit d’essai de monnaie. Chacune des faces de cette médailles doit normalement avoir pour revers : une couronne d’olivier entourant le champ, à l’intérieur de laquelle se trouve une seconde couronne en chêne. Au centre la mention : PAIX ET FORCE. On est également censé retrouver sur la tranche : SOIONS UNIS.. NOUS SERONS.. INVINCIBLES. 1793.

THE CONVENTION
(21/09/1792-26/10/1795)
The Republic was proclaimed on September 22, 1792 by the Convention. France declares war on England, Holland and Spain in February and March 1793. The first coalition against France is made up of England, Holland, Austria, Russia, Spain , Prussia, Austria and Savoy. The French annex the Rhineland and Basel. Dumouriez, beaten at Neerwinden on March 18, decreed of accusation, goes over to the enemy. On March 10, 1793, the Revolutionary Tribunal was set up, then the Public Safety Committee on April 6. Marat was assassinated by Charlotte Corday on July 13, 1793. The end of the government of the Girondins on May 31 and June 2 brought their trial and execution on October 31. This is the beginning of the federalist movement in the provinces. Marseilles is taken on August 25 and Lyons on October 17. The Vendeans, who had taken Saumur on June 9, were crushed at Cholet on October 17. The mass levy was decreed on August 23. On September 5, the Convention establishes the Terror.
