Sur cette classe I a (et sur les autres) il convient de retourner la pièce et de ne pas se contenter de regarder ce qu'il y a entre les pattes du sanglier du revers ! Ces potins d’une grande diversité se distinguent en combinant les variétés du droit et du revers, alors que S. Scheers dans son Traité (qui jeta les bases concernant ce monnayage) ou L.-P. Delestrée encore très récemment dans son "Nouvel atlas" se contentent d'observer le revers. Dans le Muret Chabouillet, les 109 exemplaires (conservés à la BN) appartenant aux différentes variétés de cette série de potins semblent être classés comme du "tout venant".

GALLIA BELGICA - REMI (Area of Reims)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Remi were one of the most powerful peoples of Gaul and loyal allies of the Romans. The territory of the Rèmes extended over present-day Champagne, along the Aisne. They had for neighbors the Atuatuci, the Treveri, the Mediomatrics, the Lingones, the Suessions, the Bellovaci and the Nervians. They denounced to Caesar the coalition of Belgian peoples of 57 BC which included the Suessions who shared the same laws and the same magistrates. Their main oppidum was Bibrax. The capital of the civitas in Gallo-Roman times was Durocortorum (Reims). Caesar (BG. II, 3-5, 7, 12; III, 11; V, 3, 24, 53, 54, 56; VI, 4, 12, 44; VII, 63, 90; VIII, 6, 11) . Strabo (G. IV, 3, 5).
