The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) established its capital in Bonn until reunification. The German constitution was inspired by the reaction against Hitler's totalitarianism: the federal republic of 10 states (Länder) opposes Hitler's unitary reich. Each Land has its own parliament and government for local affairs.
